Grand Cross

A Grand Cross is considered very rare in natal charts. When a person has this configuration, this is a sure sign of unresolved Karmic issue from past lives that has to be taken seriously this lifetime.

Imagine the crucification process where 2 hands are stretched vertically and the body is lying horizontally. That's what a Grand Cross looks like - 4 planets forming a Big Cross with 2 Oppositions and 4 Squares. Unfortunately, the native often feels like he/she is being crucified for life as well.

There are 3 kinds of modalities associated with the Grand Cross - Fixed, Cardinal and Mutable. All have different types of challenges. generally speaking, the key features of a Grand Cross are continuous stress and seemingly never-ending obstacles and challenges in life.

A mutable grand cross is said to be especially difficult with respect to the problem of maintaining focus in communication. A cardinal grand cross causes a particular difficulty in accomplishing goals because the individual wants to accomplish everything at the same time. As a result, usually he/she ends up accomplishing very little if anything. A fixed grand cross is said to lead to a person who is well organized but does not know where to direct their talents. Consequently, those with a fixed grand cross tend to be stuck in the same place.

People with many squares in their horoscope, however, if they work hard enough at overcoming the conflicts thus involved, are said to be able to achieve remarkable personal growth and self-fulfilment

A Grand Cross is when you have 4 planets 90 degrees apart from each other. This also means that there are 2 opposite angles that make a cross in the middle of the chart and this is why they call it a Grand Cross.

In astrology it is considered to be very turbulent. Extra bad. But the fact is that people that live with a grand cross have learned to find other ways to meet their goals and curiously enough the make lemonade out of lemons.

Just the fact that the planets are the same degree has to tell you that these people are very talented and probably very dissatisfied with the cards they were dealt. It's easy to play a good hand. Try winning a tournament when all the cards you get are 8 or lower. Yet these people do succeed many times more so than people that don't have this kind of hardship.
